Eczema: causes, diagnosis, treatment

Red spots on the skin, mostly accompanied by severe itching - what can that be? In most cases it is a dermatitis. Eczema represent 30 to 40 percent for the largest proportion of skin diseases.

Eczema is the collective term for inflammatory, usually itchy, non-contagious skin disease. There are different forms.

1. After the course


* The acute dermatitis, often with itching, redness and blistering is connected. The herd is often wet, and incrustation easy.

* A chronic dermatitis is characterized by dry, scaly skin, increased keratinisation and marked pruritus. The skin is thickened, cracked, and it is rough.

2. After the timer

* Eczema, caused by external factors (exogenous eczema) which, so-called contact eczema. Differences will be allergic to (food, metals) and non-allergic (eg cleaning chemicals) contact eczema.

* Eczema, mainly by internal factors (endogenous eczema) cause. In a endogenous eczema is a genetic predisposition exists - it affects about ten percent of the population. The most common endogenous eczema is called atopic eczema - the neurodermatitis. Ill children in a frequency of about 30% in atopic dermatitis, if a parent under this skin disease. If both parents endogenous eczema occurred, so the disease about 60% of children. Often those affected also suffer under bronchial asthma, hay fever or food allergies.
